Forkstash ("we," "our," or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard your information when you use our mobile application and related services.

1. Information We Collect

Information you provide

• Account information: Email address and password when you create an account, or authentication tokens when you sign in with Google or Apple.
• Recipe data: URLs you share with the app, recipes you save, collections you create, grocery lists, tags, notes, and other content you add.
• Support requests: Information you provide when contacting us for help.

Information collected automatically

• Usage analytics: We use PostHog to collect anonymous usage data such as feature interactions, screen views, and app performance metrics. This data does not include your recipe content.
• Crash reports: We use Sentry to collect crash and error data to improve app stability. Crash reports may include device model, operating system version, and stack traces.
• Device information: Device type, operating system, and app version for compatibility and debugging purposes.

Information from third parties

• Social sign-in: If you sign in with Google or Apple, we receive your name and email address from the identity provider. We do not access your contacts, photos, or other account data.

2. How We Use Your Information

• To provide and maintain the Forkstash service
• To extract, store, and organize your saved recipes
• To generate grocery lists from your recipes
• To authenticate your account and secure your data
• To improve app performance, fix bugs, and develop new features
• To respond to your support requests
• To display relevant advertisements to free-tier users
• To process subscription payments through our payment provider (RevenueCat)

3. Data Storage and Security

Your data is stored on Supabase (hosted on AWS) with encryption at rest and in transit. Recipe data is also cached locally on your device for offline access using encrypted storage.

We implement industry-standard security measures including HTTPS, row-level security policies, and secure authentication tokens. However, no method of electronic storage is 100% secure.

4. Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services:

• Supabase: Database, authentication, and file storage
• PostHog: Anonymous usage analytics
• Sentry: Crash reporting and error tracking
• Google AdMob: Advertising for free-tier users (subject to Google's privacy policy)
• RevenueCat: Subscription management and payment processing
• OpenAI / Anthropic: AI-powered recipe extraction (recipe URLs and content are sent to AI providers for processing)
• Resend: Transactional email delivery

5. Advertising

Free-tier users may see advertisements served by Google AdMob. AdMob may collect device identifiers and usage data to serve relevant ads. You can opt out of personalized advertising through your device settings. Subscribers on paid plans do not see advertisements.

6. Data Sharing

We do not sell your personal information. We share data only with the third-party service providers listed above, and only to the extent necessary to provide the Forkstash service. We may also disclose information if required by law or to protect our rights.

7. Your Rights

You have the right to:

• Access the personal data we hold about you
• Request correction of inaccurate data
• Request deletion of your account and associated data
• Export your recipe data
• Opt out of analytics collection
• Opt out of personalized advertising

8. Children's Privacy

Forkstash is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we will delete it.

9. Data Retention

We retain your account data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we will delete your personal data within 30 days, except where we are required to retain it by law.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes through the app or by email. Continued use of Forkstash after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
